History of Beef and Cake restaurant in Khmelnytskyi

The restaurant opened its doors to the public on May 16, 2016, and over the eight years of its existence, it has become a landmark place for lovers of delicious food and desserts. Located in a historic building at 15 Proskurivska Street, the restaurant has a rich history dating back to the days when the city was called Proskuriv.
Historical background
The building where Beef and Cake is located today has an interesting and somewhat mysterious history. Although the exact date of its construction is unknown, there is an assumption that it was built in 1890. It is known that the Elephant restaurant was already operating here in 1907. The restaurant got its name because of its facade, which resembled an elephant’s head, and the balcony above the entrance seemed to support its tusks.
This restaurant was the best eating establishment in Proskuriv. It was famous for its gourmet assortment of dishes, including cold appetizers and its signature fish fry. It also had a large selection of wines and delicacies. Even during the Civil War, pineapples and black caviar were available at the restaurant, although they were quite expensive.
A special highlight of the Elephant was an orchestra of blind musicians consisting of 18 virtuosos. Residents of Proskuriv often visited the restaurant to enjoy their music, even ordering just tea.
Our restaurant is special because it focuses on local products.

After a certain period of time, the establishment changed its name and became a confectionery shop run by Valentyn Volodymyrovych. Initially, it was a small coffee shop called Nasoloda, which sold desserts. Over time, under the leadership of chef Dmytro Hrytsenko, several meat dishes were added to the menu, which was in great demand.
This prompted the owners to change the concept and expand the menu. In 2016, we opened Beef and Cake, focusing on steaks and desserts. The name of the restaurant reflects its specialization: “Beef for steaks and Cake for desserts.
Modern Beef and Cake
Our restaurant is special because it focuses on local products. Our menu is based on Ukrainian steaks, but you will also find American, Argentine, and Japanese dishes in our specials.
The restaurant is characterized by a high level of service, and our team consists of professionals who have been working here for years. All waiters are men, which is a unique feature of the restaurant. With the new manager, the restaurant began to introduce the concept of emotional service, focusing on the mood and behavior of guests. Team building and training sessions with psychologists and coaches are held regularly to ensure a comfortable atmosphere for visitors. Our restaurant remains a popular gourmet destination in Khmelnytskyi.
